NUKUʻALOFA — A coordinated enforcement push by Tonga Police has taken illicit drugs and an illegal firearm off the streets following two entirely separate tactical operations that led to the arrest of two local men.

The targeted operations, carried out in separate locations, resulted in the seizure of illicit substances, illegal weaponry, and related contraband, marking another vital step in the national effort to safeguard local communities from criminal activity.

In the first operation, police targeted activities in Nukunuku, resulting in the apprehension of a 27-year-old male. He has been officially charged with three distinct offenses: possession of illicit drugs (cannabis), cultivation of illicit drugs, and possession of utensils used for drug consumption.

In a completely separate second breakthrough, officers operating in ʻUtulau arrested a 34-year-old male. He faces severe criminal charges after being found in possession of a firearm and ammunitions without a valid license.

According to official police reporting, all physical exhibits, including the illegal weapons and narcotics, were securely seized as evidence at the exact moment the suspects were taken into custody.

Following the successful raids, Tonga Police issued an urgent public appeal encouraging citizens to step forward with information. A police spokesperson emphasized that public cooperation is absolutely vital to national security, urging anyone who witnesses suspicious activities involving illicit drugs, firearms, or any other criminal offenses to report them immediately to their nearest police station to keep Tongan communities safe.
