According to cattle owners who have made complaints to the Police Station, cattle theft is on the rise where the cattles are stolen, butchered and sold to restaurants and places where they turn it into salted beef before reselling them.
The cattle owners believe that this is organized theft carried out by local Tongans and Tongans living overseas who owns restaurants and stores locally. One cattle is estimated between $3,000 to $5,000 for one.
The cattle owners are asking the Ministry of Police and the public for help in putting an end to this behavior. Any information regarding those behind this are invited to contact your nearest Police Station.
