Nuku’alofa, Tonga — The Ministry of Justice has farewelled Assistant Secretary of the Corporate Services Division, Viliami Pone Paea-’I-Telekava Fotu, following 33 years of dedicated service to the Government of Tonga.

Mr. Fotu began his government career in 1993 and has served the Ministry throughout a long career marked by commitment, loyalty and hard work.

At his farewell, colleagues reflected on his years of service with warmth and humour, recalling that he had “started young and sharp.” They also remembered his distinctive character, including his self-appointed names of “Ma’afu Lele” at the beginning of his career and “Ma’afu Toka” as he now brings his public service to a close.

Representing the Prime Minister and the Government of Tonga, Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Viliami Uasike Latu conveyed the Government’s appreciation for Mr. Fotu’s many years of loyal and dedicated service.

The farewell ceremony was guided by the words of Romans 11:36:

“For from Him and through Him and for Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.”

The Ministry expressed its heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Fotu for his valuable contribution and years of service, noting that his dedication and commitment will be remembered and greatly missed by colleagues.

As he begins his retirement, the Ministry extended its warmest congratulations and appreciation to Mr. Fotu.
