On Thursday 9th of July 2026 at 2 pm in the afternoon, an appeal hearing was held in Court Room 1 in the case of Sika vs Fasi. The hearing was held to confirm completed submissions by both parties. Present was Dr. Uhilamoelangi Fasi and his lawyer, and Counsel on behalf of Hon. Semisi Sika.
Also present were various members of the Court including Counsel Salote Faotusia and June Ropati.
Respectively, both parties await the Courts decision which may affirm, reverse or modify the original decision. The decision becomes final once it is issued and all other appeals are exhausted.
The hearing was a total of 15 minutes, with the court remaining to schedule decision. Although the process of an appeal may seem challenging to many, Dr. Uhilamoelangi Fasi smiled confidently for photos. Dr. Fasi has a long standing reputation of dedication to the people, beginning from his days as a high school teacher and commitments to quality education in Tonga and the Pacific. Decades later, winning seat in Parliament for Tongatapu 2 Constituency in 2022 and appealing for the seat again in this appeal.
