NUKU’ALOFA, 17 July – Nine new legal practitioners were officially admitted to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Tonga during a ceremony held in Court 1 of the Supreme Court in Nuku’alofa on Friday morning.
The ceremony was presided over by Lord Chief Justice Bishop KC, together with Court of Appeal judges Sir Patrick Elias and Lord Boyd of Duncansby, as well as Supreme Court Justices Tupou KC, Targowski KC and Acting Justice Langi.
The nine newly admitted legal practitioners are:
- Sinaitakala-‘I-Lotunofo Kafa-Ikamoana Paunga
- Oliver Charles Stephenson
- Ope’anga-Hoto-Ngu-Ko-E-Langilangi Tokemoana Malumalu ‘O Fulilangi Paunga
- Mele’ana Erica Maria Kula
- Roseandra Kathleen Pulusi ‘Akau’ola
- ‘Oto’ota Florence ‘Ofa-‘A E-‘Eiki ‘Aho
- Susana Toakase Shah Tukia
- Kalisi ‘Uluakimata Paea ‘I ‘Otu Falaalolo Veikune
- Cecilia Kristina Nofo Lata ‘I Nuku Kemoe’atu
The Ministry of Justice also joined in celebrating the occasion, extending special congratulations to its Legal Officer, Ms. Roseandra Kathleen Pulusi ‘Akau’ola, who was among those admitted to the Bar.
In a statement, the Ministry congratulated all nine new practitioners and encouraged them to uphold the rule of law with integrity, professionalism and an unwavering commitment to justice as they begin their legal careers.
