Overall, the Fono ran very smoothly. With an event of this scale there are always logistical challenges, particularly coordinating participants from across all island groups, but these were overcome through strong teamwork and careful planning. The atmosphere throughout the three days was one of collaboration, respect and genuine commitment to achieving a shared outcome.

Our focus now shifts to implementation. The next step is to finalise the Implementation and Monitoring Framework, establish mechanisms for coordinated implementation, and work alongside Government, communities, development partners and civil society to turn the Platform’s commitments into practical action.

The ultimate goal is to improve the lives of women and girls across Tonga. We want to ensure that the voices of women continue to influence national decision-making and that the priorities identified through the Fono lead to stronger families, safer communities, greater opportunities and lasting positive change for future generations.

Absolutely. The media has a vital role in keeping the conversation alive. The National Women’s Fono may have concluded, but this is only the beginning. The Tonga Women’s Platform for Action belongs to all of Tonga. Its success will depend on all of us – Government, communities, churches, civil society, the private sector and development partners… working together to turn the voices of women into meaningful action that benefits the entire nation.
